Forum Topic: Anyone have plans for a M55 Provibe harp rebuild?

Hi
I have an M55 that I would like to rebuild just the wooden harp on...I broke an inner rail sometime ago and although it is repaired, the pull from the spring makes the instrument uneven and spongy. I have a beautiful piece of wood that I want to use but I don,t want to either mess it up or have the cost of a professional woodworker include an unneeded amount of trial and error.. What I want to make is a minimal design, like the prototype for the M48 that GB had in the 80's - no big end caps just an even frame all the way around. I dont use a motor ...

This Ross is for sale within a 2 hr drive of me. The seller has not replied yet with the model number. Looks like a model 715, with 4 bar graduations. I know that the brand has been discontinued. Would appreciate any thoughts regarding the brand. Thx. . Jim

My daughter has become quite an impressive mallet artists and I'm considering purchasing a set of vibes. She's past the beginner stage, so graduated bars are a must. When I first entered the high school band room, I was shocked to see a long line of four octave Yamaha vibraphones and a whole bunch of high end marimbas. By my quick estimate, I think they must have at least $100,000 worth of mallet instruments. This all feels to me like getting a new Cadillac before taking driver's training!

Hi, I'm just new to this forum and am really a jazz drummer rather than a vibes player but I've been lucky enough to have an old Premier vibraphone on loan for a while which I've been having a lot of fun with. I believe it's a 751 model but I have no idea how old it is. The current owner has now decided to sell and so he offered me the chance to buy it.

Forum Topic: Yamaha YV-520 - a true vibraphone?

Hello everyone again!
I hope you don't mind me filling in this section with some more questions on the vibes makers?

What do you think about the Yamaha's lower end vibraphone, the small and cute YV-520 model? Would you consider it as a true vibraphone or rather a toy? It has 32 mm wide bars and I've heard it's not so much comfortable to play on the bars so narrow especially when applying a four mallet techinques.
Is this model more like the vibes for children?

Hello, I've just joined and I hope these forums are still alive.

Can you please give me an opinion on Vancore vibes from Netherlands and in particular their lower end model PSV 2001? It's a three octave set with a fixed 45 mm bar width. You can see the pics and specs here:
