Talk about the companies making the vibes and mallets!
How do they compare?
Does anyone know anything about the Trixon Karl Heinz Weimer Vibraphone?
It looks like a quality instrument at a good price on eBay. So I'm interested in buying it -- although I might not if they can't provide it in A440 tuning.
Hi All-
What are the best cases/bags being made for Musser vibraphones these days? I have the original cases they made for the M48, but I think my M48 is too old and rickety to tour with. My m46 is younger, but I currently have no cases for it. What should I get? I'm rather thinking I need to get one for the frame and crossbar... I think resonators would do fine if I just bound them together... Is anyone having success with a solution that's not as literal as just buying some 'official' Musser-specific product?
Hi All,
I have an old Jenco set and the case that I have for the resonators is literally falling apart. I was thinking about getting a custom soft case built to carry the resonators and wanted to know if anyone had a recommendation for a good company that can make one that won't be too expensive.
I would consider a hard case, especially if there is a stock one that is about the right size and doesn't have to be custom built. Doesn't need to be fancy as I have been dragging around the original case for years even though it is very flimsy.
Hello,
I am a college student looking to get my own set of vibes post-graduation. I see that most people around this site endorse the M55 models by Musser. Does anyone have any experience or opinion on Adams vibraphones? I am looking into their "concert" vibraphone that looks nice enough and still quite cheaper than an M-55.
Thanks!
Jacob
Hi
I have an M55 that I would like to rebuild just the wooden harp on...I broke an inner rail sometime ago and although it is repaired, the pull from the spring makes the instrument uneven and spongy. I have a beautiful piece of wood that I want to use but I don,t want to either mess it up or have the cost of a professional woodworker include an unneeded amount of trial and error.. What I want to make is a minimal design, like the prototype for the M48 that GB had in the 80's - no big end caps just an even frame all the way around. I dont use a motor ...
This Ross is for sale within a 2 hr drive of me. The seller has not replied yet with the model number. Looks like a model 715, with 4 bar graduations. I know that the brand has been discontinued. Would appreciate any thoughts regarding the brand. Thx. . Jim
My daughter has become quite an impressive mallet artists and I'm considering purchasing a set of vibes. She's past the beginner stage, so graduated bars are a must. When I first entered the high school band room, I was shocked to see a long line of four octave Yamaha vibraphones and a whole bunch of high end marimbas. By my quick estimate, I think they must have at least $100,000 worth of mallet instruments. This all feels to me like getting a new Cadillac before taking driver's training!
Are there any reviews or comments on the Ross or the Majestic vibe models? I know they are not as prominent as the main producers, but I have seen them at a lesser price point but I have not heard any reviews or how they sound or how they travel.
Thank you,
Roger
We got to see the new Malletech Omega prototype at the Delaware Workshop, here's a video about the Omega...Ton Risco, Mike Pope, Joe Locke & Liegh Stevens discuss the Omega and the new pickup system
