Mike Balter Talks About Ludwig and Ludwig (And Mike Balter) by Tony Miceli

I APOLOGIZE! MY HEADSET IS TOO CLOSE TO MY MOUTH. SO YOU HERE SOME DISTRACTING NOISES. AND IT'S NOT SEPARATED. I NEED TO BUY A USB MIC FOR THESE INTERVIEWS, SO I CAN GET A LITTLE DISTANCE.

But it's amazing stuff here, so listen to Mike Balter talk about the history, and JUST WAIT UNTIL HE TELLS YOU HOW MANY MALLETS HE'S SOLD AT THE END OF THIS!

I got Mike to talk a little bit about Mike also! (He's a very humble guy)

Forum Topic: Making an Album

Hello everyone,

Myself and a fellow guitarist Mark Nemeth are planning on making a duet album this summer as a summer project.

I have never made a professional cd before. I am aware of copyright issues with playing covers, but have never had to actually go through it.

I was wondering if anyone would help me with all the steps I need to take.

The album will have a lot of original music however we will be doing some other stuff like Ney Rosauro's Tocatta and Divertemento, Libertango, Ecstacy of Gold. I will also be doing a few hand drum solos oby N.Scott Robinson.

New Solo Piece by Ted Wolff

This is an etude style piece, no improv, everything written out. I tried to include a couple dampening techniques here and there. Make sure you dampen the left hand notes at bar 36. There are some nice right hand octaves to play in bars 58 - 66. The arrangement utilizes block chord style sometimes and at other times a basic 2 part approach with the melody on top and a pseudo bass part below.

The tempo marking flexible. It seems to sound pretty good played a little slower or a little faster.

They did a great job. i grew up listening to this song and hearing it on vibes and violin made it sound wonderfull. I have been trying to play the chords myself, but i cannot even come close.
This video really inspires me to have fun with songs you know.
thanks tony,

How High the Moon by Marcel Pascual

This is one spontaneous sample of my practice of this piece in solo style. I tried to start free and then more on pulse, but I think it sound too nervous sometimes. To mantein good tempo playing solo is one of the challenges!. Phrases are not too much defined, also. I have also some harmony and structure mistakes...well, next time will be better. Is my first video ;)
