This is a video I did a few months ago of me playing Autumn leaves.
I really struggle with these solo performances (especially improvising over changes!)
What's my weakness? And the next step to improving? Any other points to make?
To do an advanced search:
Click on the search button while there is no text in the search box. make sure the search box is empty. It will take you to the search page.
Click on advanced search and now you have a whole bunch of options.
For example if you're searching for Gary Burton video, you'd enter Gary Burton in the search as a phrase box and then click on video on the right. This will narrow things down a lot. You'll still probably have to sift through stuff, but not nearly as much as if you search the whole site.
Here is a lesson geared to the beginning/intermediate player on navigating turnarounds. The audio file goes along with the PDF, so I recommend looking at it while you listen or beforehand. I plan to add some more to this in a future lesson. Let me know if you find this helpful.

Cop this lick. You know the line itself has all the information we need. No need for chords here, right?
But if you get good at comping with just the left hand, that is playing double stops on the fly, you can add the 4 mallet "vibe". Just by hitting a couple double stops you create the vibe. You hear guitar players do this all the time!
I've attached a pdf as well.
So, I am on this 70's Rhodes piano kick. Here is another great tune from that era, "I'm Not in Love" by 10cc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27m_Not_in_Love
I put my new motor on real slow for this one. I wanted a lot of ringing to get that airy feel of the original. I tried dampening the melody while the chords rang.
I like the stereo separation here. Melody on the right, chords on the left.

Hi all,
Here's a lesson with some ideas for playing lines over the TOTM, Fried Bananas. Enjoy!
