As vibist we all have to solve the problem of not staying alone, mainly because our instrument is ignored by others musicians. We have to make things happen, we have no choice.
Here is what I did :
3 years ago I noticed a place available to cultural associations for a very low rental fee. Then I asked the association I work for to put an option for the following year. Last year I opened a "musical meeting / improvisation" class for good level-amateur-musicians with the same problem as mine : people in search of oportunities of playing music.

I've been asked to provide the Vibraphone segment of my states "Day of Percussion" here in Australia for the Percussive Arts Society. I was wondering if anyone had ideas, topics, questions about vibraphone, playing, technique etc that you think would be cool to have covered in my workshop.

I've been playing scales 15 minutes a day and totally digging what I'm coming up with. I like being good at alternate sticking which I means I do that the most. So I've been forcing myself to come up with double stickings for scales. I can feel it in my muscles when I do these scales and some of them are tricky.

Instead of doing everything around major modes I've been messing around with different modes mainly for the sounds.

Here are two scales and there sticking.

For the one in Ab start (of course) with L and then start with R. Actually this is G Locrian, right?
