When I think about improvisation, I think about a way of life, a concept about the "moment", not just something I do in the evening in front of an audience for one or two hours.

I was experimenting with dampening the two inner voices of chords, inspired by Joe Locke's video "Intros Part 1" and heard the song Laura when I lowered the inner two voices a 1/2 step.

So I see a bunch of University Professors here and some have been hanging out quite a bit.

I would love to try some stuff with all this technology with your percussion department. I think we're ready to design an online jazz course, we can certainly do workshops.

In fact if a few of you 'guys' wanted to test things out, we could meet online and I could show some stuff. I've been using Skype and Ichat to teach lessons all over the world, and so far so good! There's also a few other sites which deliver video and have chat rooms.

Joe talks about an intro to play over tunes.

I decided to do a series of analysis of tunes.

I decided to call this series 'Pimp My Tune', and I think you could definitely call this 'Ghetto Analysis'. I did go to college, but I was interested in playing and learning off the street. What was great about that was I got a lot of interesting perspectives on tunes and harmony, from some great musicians. It was amazing that in school everything was made to seem difficult and on the street everything was made to seem easy. At least that's how I perceived it all.
