Little B's Poem Arrangement by BarryK

I started a solo arrangement to Bobby Hutcherson's "Little B's Poem".

Enclosed is a PDF, and an audio generated from Sibelius. I also attached an initial attempt at it (just a few measures).

The original recording has vibes and flute playing unison.

Inspired by that, I decided to play octaves in the right hand (the PDF only has single line melody, but the intention is to play octave), with the left hand comping with a sort of jazz waltz stride.

Any takers to try it out?

Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Stablemates in 13/8

In the past year, it's been a project of mine to get to a place where I can play as effortlessly over odd meters (11, 13, 15 and 17) as in 4, 3, 5 and 7. This is the result of having checked it out for a few months. So this vid dates back to about March of 2010. Since then, it has become like second nature. In fact I enjoy playing over those extended odd meters more than anything else. I have my good friend Katisse to thank for getting me involved with this stuff. If you have any questions as to how to practice this or some thoughts of your own, please feel free to post.

Forum Topic: Deagan Aurora 1100 for sale... Location Paris..NEW LOWER PRICE 3500 Euros OBO... Pics, sounds and description.

HI, I just did the Euro / US$ exchange rate and realized I am charging too much for the Deagan Vibes.

I have just become a somewhat "motivated" seller.

So here is the chance to own a real serious set of vibes.....

Forum Topic: Questions: choosing a set of vibes.

I'm a long-time drummer, new mallet player. I've been studying on a nice old marimba and I want to start working with vibes as well.

From what I can tell, the standard gigging vibe seems to be the M-55. Some guys like the Yamahas, some guys *really* like the old Deagans like the Commander or the Aurora.

Which vibes are useful for *gigging* on, i.e., are practical for packing up, transporting, and setting up night after night?
What are basic differences in tone between the major manufacturers (current and vintage, so Musser, Yamaha, Deagan, Jenco, etc)?
