I'm going to try to Livestream my gig this Sunday afternoon. We're playing as a trio (vibes, bass, drums) outdoors at a farmers market. I'm told they have very good 4G signal, so what the heck :-).

The stream will be at http://new.livestream.com/accounts/1758489/events/2161697, starting at 1:30PM EDT on Sunday, 9-Jun-2013. There won't be anyone there who can monitor the feed, so if you stop by leave a comment here or there so I know!

Hi All,
Time to announce July's program. It opens with "America the Beautiful" by Bob Masteller, musician and owner of the popular Hilton Head Island Jazz Corner. (I still can't believe they've been open every night with jazz on their stage for 14 years!) Their first artist was the incredible George Shearing. I understand Bob is a new member here.

Ok, here's my final. Do your. Play the tune. Anything, do something! Play the head, take a solo. Just play the head.... do something!

Here are finally some videos from our winter workshop in Wuppertal - Germany. This one is the free ensemble made of all willing participants, and "directed" by our host Matthias Goebel.

Honestly I'm not much into 'free' music, but what Matthias managed to get the guys into is really beautiful to my ears. Just take those few minutes to listen. Thanks a lot Matthias and guys!! :o)

I'm sitting here practicing all these Parker tunes for an upcoming gig. I have dived back deep into Charlie Parker for the last month. It's amazing and practicing is so much fun.

I'm thinking about aim a lot. I'm trying to feel my arms and not only hear the hard passages but also feel where my arms are. Try playing Shaw 'Nuff on the vibes. This is very difficult. As difficult as playing Bach or some 20th century music. I really feel like Charlie Parker is the guy for all us vibe players to study on the vibes. Even if it's just for aim and phrasing.
