Here's a little talk about simplicity and making the changes work. I use a minor ii V to illustrate my talk.

I think it's interesting stuff to simplify progressions and see what's the least amount that they need to work.

So I was thinking of making some sort of chord etude and I thought, why don't I just comp through a tune. Then if you're working on comping you could learn this etude and analyze it.

So I took the changes to 'I Loves You Porgy' and comped simply through it. I played mostly quarter notes to keep things moving.

I'm curious is this is helpful to any of you.

I was replacing the threshold on one of my exterior doors. Took the threshold out of the package. It was aluminum, so I'm thinking, hmmmm, what's the pitch? I can really use a low-E. Uhh, no, but I have the start to making a Gyil. lol

In case you ever wanted to know what a 36 inch aluminum door threshold sounds like, I've enclosed a sample.

One of the things I've really enjoyed about this site is that it seems to be free of the helpful-to-some, boring-to-most questions about gear that riddle the vibenet. Mostly we're really talking about music and how to make it on a vibraphone over here, and I think that's fantastic. Well as I'm watching all my gigs slow up in this awful economy, I'm wondering how I'm going to handle this and hang on until things pick back up.

Then I was reading 'Pet Owners' Quarterly and I saw an article that's about to change my life I think. There's a demand for turtle models and actors. Apparently the Ninja turtles are going to make a comeback.

So I began training my new pets that my wife brought home to make a few bucks and help out around the house.

I added some post recording effects on Just Friends. Thought I'd post it. I did this after I did my 'analysis' on the tune.
