And, yes, the older recordings where he was still playing on the Deagan instrument with original Albright mallets have a clear sound that is very special, at least to my ears. Those instruments don't produce that sound unless you play them exactly in the way they need to be played... and this is a great example of exactly that. Every note perfectly clear and deep in the pocket.
