Greetings,
New to the board and looking to start my journey into learning to play the vibraphone. I'm 50 years old and have played various instruments (keyboards mainly) over the years. The vibraphone has always appealed to me and I'm excited about learning to play.
I'm looking at a 60-70s pre-Ludwig M55 that's for sale in my area. The question I have one simple question (for now): are the older M55s harder to breakdown and move than the Pro-traveller versions?
Anything else one can share about the pre-Ludwig models would be greatly appreciated.

One advantage of the older Mussers is that they were factory-tuned to A-440, and I think that will increase the value of your investment over time. Not only will you be in tune with pianos in the US, but your instrument will have better sustain since the bars and resonators are both tuned to the same pitches.
Even if you don't play with a pianist, nearly everyone in the US (including horn players) stobe-tunes to 440 on a performance and especially now that tuners are so compact. If you look at the underside of the middle-A bar, the number 440 should be engraved at the edge.
