Instrument Makers

I am a sax player and want to start playing vibes; I'm having a hard time deciding what to buy. I'm fortunate in that a couple of thousand dollars either way doesn't make a huge difference to me if it means getting an instrument that sounds better to me and/or is easier to play. For whatever it's worth, I've always been a huge fan of Milt Jackson's sound. I have a fairly large music room at home; portability might become an issue in the future if I want to play with other musicians. I'm 6'2" so height adjustability might also be an issue.

I've inherited an old vibraphone (at least 20 years).
It made by Premier, but thats pretty much all I know.
It's not in playable condition, but i'm thinking of getting it work again.

Does anyone have, or know of, a Xylosynth in my area that I could try?

Location: Abbotsford, BC, Canada (but I'm willing to go as far South as Seattle, Washington and as far West as North Vancouver, BC).

Looking to locally sell my M55 and purchase a 3 octave (F-F) Xylosynth, as I'm thinking of taking an extended trip to Australia and I couldn't stand being without a mallet instrument. Especially since I just spent the last year practicing to acquire a diploma on drum set, and missed playing my vibes the whole time.

Hi vibes people, i wanted to share some music from a great bass player from the south of Chile (Concepción), I had the chance to be on his debut album, and for the session there was a lovely uniform bar Studio 49 (i presume from the mid nineties or maybe older). I've had a bit of experience with several Studio 49s before at school, yet they were very old and really beaten up. They have the best pedal ever, and the craftsmanship is, well... german. Just though i'd chime in with what matters most, the sound, so here it is:

I just wanted to tell you about my new vibraphone and share my impressions with you guys, all vibes players of the world ! It's been a hard time for me to make a choice. In the past I used to have, in the order : one M55, then one M48, then I played mostly the Yamaha model YV-3710 along with my old Aurora Deagan that I sold a few month ago.

Does anyone own or know someone who owns a first generation Yamaha YV3400 vibraphone? I'm looking for a picture of the original cross bar/pedal that folded in half. Thanks!

Hi All- Sorry if this is a tired subject around here; I haven't been by in awhile. Just got a snail-mail percussion catalog and noticed the Malletech 'Love' Vibraphone is finally being shipped. Anyone besides Gavin and Ed Smith interacted with this thing? Here are some thoughts from reading the brochure and watching Ed play it:

I recently purchased a Ludwig and Ludwig vibraphone. IT has three octaves, wood frame, non-graduated bars(there all the same size) and a motor. Little is know about this particular brand. We have tried researching, but came across nothing. If anyone know's anything about this brand, please speak up! We know it was made before 1966 because that is when ludwig and ludwig stopped production. There is a badge/logo on the front that reads

Made in the USA
Elkheart, indiana

There is also a stamp on the low f that reads
ludwig and luwdig
