I just ordered a new set of Innovative mallets DF30L's. At pasic i fell in love with these mallets and bought a set via the lone star store they had at the expo. The set i bought at pasic are warm, rich and full body tone. light weight enough so that i can get a bend out of the rattan. ideal for solo and trio playing
Here's a photo of my good friend Mike Blake. Second from the left. He's a real good drummer and vibe player out in North Dakota! I recently was up at North Dakota U for a day of percussion.
Hello
This is my second transcription which I learned by singing it and then play it on the instrument. This is is a great solo by Chet Baker on It could happen to you.
I can't believe how much I'm learning about the vibraphone. I spent the day with Leigh Stevens at the Malletech factory and once again learned so much about the instrument!
Leigh had me play the Omega for a bit. It sounded great. Then he told me to hang on for few minutes. He turned the heat up on the room. I went from sixty five to 70. Then he had me play the Omega and it sounded So much better.
Hey,
I worked a while on september song by Kurt Weill.
I hope you like my simple tune.
Greetings,
Stefan.
Here's an improvisational technique of creating a solo based upon the use of tension resolution. This excerpt (pages 68-71) from The Complete Guide To Improvisation showcases a step by step process of creating a solo on the standard "All The Things You Are". This improv technique can create rich, forward moving lines that sound the changes while avoiding licks. I use this concept with my students and get good results fairly quickly. Other solos in the book include "Stella By Starlight" and "All Of Me".
