Here's the mini workshop from after the concert we did the other night. Steve talks about bass lines, playing without a bass player and learning tunes.
Hey everyone... it's been a while since I've been on the site. Trying to get back into the swing of things here and to catch up on all the stuff of missed.
This isn't a vibes video, but it is a great video of a bunch of extremely talented guys out of Basil, Switzerland. These are GREAT drummers... check them out!

Milt and Bobby. They always pull down Milt stuff so watch it now before it's too late (dixit Tony Miceli)...
So believe him and watch! (MN)
Daily Motion Introduction:
Jazz vibes giant Milt Jackson (1923 - 1999) in one of his last performances. With him, Michael LeDonne on piano, Pierre Boussaguet on bass, and the legendary Mickey Roker on drums. At this point, Milt Jackson brings Bobby Hutcherson onstage for a duet on the venerable standard "Lady Be Good", a fitting finale for this great concert, and it's roger and out from Salzau, Germany, 1999.

Emilie and I were talking about that Locke/Hutcherson video, and suddenly Goldwing put it on top of the Pile! Funny! :o)
What about the legendary duets Hutcherson/Jackson? We know vids of Milt on the net are very few and tend to disappear. So this is an update of the few duets (so far) on Dailymotion, from Jazz Baltica 99 (one of the very last performances of Bags)… Feat. Pierre Boussaguet (db…French!), plus the legendary Mikey Rocker (dr) and Mike Ledonne (p.)
This is a thrown together duo intro for my university septet. Its a bit rough around the edges, but I thought it came out nicely for our first performance together. Sorry about the music stands everywhere!

Here's a pdf with a list of Giant Steps CDs.
The lesson demonstrates some comping patterns and ideas to get you started on playing in a ChaCha groove. All the patterns are over a ii-V7 vamp (Amin7-D7). You could use these patterns over songs like Oye Como Va and Soul Sauce.
