David's View at a workshop in Italy!
Hey guys, if you caught the Vibe Hang last weekend this is the original song i TRIED to play. Unfortunately it was not ready to be site read by a trio, but here is a solo version to make up for my sloppy hang performance!
This still needs a little work, but what better place to post a work in progress!
Players,
As a dedicated music lover, but a non-musician, I have always had these questions and here is a great opportunity to ask them. If these topics have been covered before, I apologize.
How much, if at all, do lyrics affect your playing a tune? Is it important to you to read the lyrics when learning a song, if you don't already know them? How important is it to know the history of the song; if it was written for a movie or play, what the movie/play was about? Or is the emotional content of the tune relayed to you through the notes sufficient?
Fixed it. Enjoy!
Hey Everyone,
I just found out that this video was posted on youtube of a gig I did last monday. This is one of my new projects. I recorded a cd with this singer. I play on 2 tracks on the album and here we are live with 11 band members on a small stage. I'm featured here with a short solo. so check it out. I'm in the back in the dark...
hope you like it!

Hi all,
Many of you know Gabe Globus-Hoenich as the drummer at many of Tony's vibe hangs. Lately, I've been doing some playing at his place. He sent me something we did about 2 months ago that I forgot about. It's an 11 minute marathon Speak Low. We had alot of fun playing it. Sometimes, I think it's good to just stretch out as far as you can, especially with guys that are going the distance with you. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it, I like playing with these guys.
Behn Gillece- vibraphone
Jordan Berger- bass
Gabe Globus-Hoenich- drums
Updates for the PAL:
less vibrato on the keys (no more pitch bend)
tighter percussion track
include 442 (Sorry if I mixed up the titles on this....LMK if you find one that is backwards)
different keys
different speeds
Dana's version of Solar, uploaded with his kind permission, enjoy, I did

Here's part three of the tune Blue Bossa. In this lesson we talk about creating simple lines.
