In Wuppertal told David us this Timing Exercise: Record your Solo, and then comp your solo on the piano. its really harder then it sounds like. for example: I was shocked how i run away when i play lines.
Its really helpful, try it!

Play alongs with BIAB can get you spoiled. Here's a playalong with just vibes accompaniment. Without the bass and drums you have to pay more attention to the time.
There is an 8 bar intro, then 4 choruses of the tune plus a special ending. Use your ear to figure out the ending, both the melody and the chord. A leadsheet pdf is attached if you don't have a copy of the tune.

Kurt's thoughts on playing solo on the guitar definitely apply to the vibes. Especially some of the beginning comments.
Check out when he talks about how he works on voicings.
Imagine playing a standard like this. You know what I mean? The concept of this piece I think lends itself to solo playing. The two voices. Something we can do on the vibes just as easily as can be done on the guitar.
