I have not been playing much lately (which is not really making me happy)...but anyway, I grabbed a few minutes and was thinking about the Stride Blues stuff that Tony & Ed had done. So I propped up my iPhone, and made a little video. The thing works great for these kind of practice videos! Thank you guys, for the inspiration...

Does anyone know where I can obtain a chart to "Tanguedia III" by Astor Piazzolla? The piece is on Tango: Zero Hour and Gary has recorded it on his Libertango CD. I've searched several online sheet music retailers with no luck, so if anyone has a link to where I can buy it, I appreciate it!

It's one of the Piazzolla pieces that I think I could play on a gig - like Oblivion and a few others.

A quick lesson on using a modal concept of substitutions. I translate it into a tune. This is for advanced players I would think.

What a studio David must have.

My new tune to study is Pent Up House. I'm checking out this Billy Pierce solo, mainly because I love how he moves between all the 'altered' tones. He plays these standards bebop ways of getting around the 3rd and 5th and uses them over the flat 9s and sharp 9s. I think it's really cool and I love his playing.

Also Pent Up House is nothing but 2 5's so it's a good 12 key tune. Above is the Billy Pierce solo from his album Epistrophy and below is the famous Sonny Recording.
