Hello Everyone, here's Part Two of the Four Note Groupings article which will be appearing in the upcoming June issue of the Percussive Arts Society magazine Percussive Notes. This article addresses the use of four note groupings on Dom 7 chords as well as the application of the four note grouping concept on two choruses of Stella by Starlight. Thanks to Gustavo for putting the music examples into Finale.

The play along is too long so I just did the head twice and a couple of choruses. Sorry for the abrupt ending. New to Logic.
Instead of dropping mallets I added applause at the end. Its very encouraging and uplifting:)

Here's a chord etude based on a blues. I tried to use the 'comping sideways idea'. That is moving up and down the scale that would go with the chord.

As with all etudes (IMHO) make them sound good and change whatever you want. But in the end you should have a piece of music.

Next you should understand the concept behind the etude and you should be able to explore this further on your own and in this case with other tunes.
