Because of the numerous inquiries, Joe Cifelli, machinist, and I have been reviewing the possibilities of modifying my current lightweight bottom frame work component, for further breakdown. We are considering as follows:
(a) Release each of the side panels from the current attached bottom cross-arms (with the main braces).
(b) Using these crossarms, develop a sturdy support component, with the main braces, and welded for carrying strength. And, to develop a new sliding "mortice" type bracket for firm attachment during reassembly.

I have been away for a few days, came back to the workshop and watched the Branford Marsalis video and it still moves me. I read through all the posts and had the feeling that it is time to open up a new thread as too many topics are tumbling through oneanother within the original post...
Before covering the actual topic of my post, I'd like to say, that I am 90% behind Marsalis! Okay, he is being very provocative here, but hey I think he has a point.

I've been a subscriber to Vibes Workshop for some time now and just wanted to tell Tony and everyone involved with the site how much I've enjoyed it! The video is a piece by Ney Rosauro (Brazilian composer) that I've been working on. For those of you that aren't familiar with Ney's music - I think he's a wonderful composer who captures the flavor and atmosphere of Brazil so well. Hope you enjoy.

It's scary to think that even practicing to a sweat in a cold room may never get me there.

I'm digging the idea of making a vibe collective book. I posted something in reply to barry's Ktude (i love it).

The ultimate book for vibe players. A book where we all contribute, or rather whoever would want to contribute. You know if lots of subscribers contributed, I bet we could beg some of the pros here for a little something to put in the book.

I've even thought about the money:

the site makes a percentage
managers make a percentage
contributors make a percentage based on pages they've contributed.

Here's another arrangement for vibes, this time of a tune titled "Minha Saudaude". I've not seen it in any fake book. I got it from Mike Metheny after hearing his group perform it a few times. The melody is somewhat syncopated and fits well with a simple 2 feel accompaniment. The melody has some wide intervals, and is easier to play if you use both mallets in your right hand.

You'll need to "flutter" the pedal a lot to keep the numerous half steps in the melody from ringing together. Try to get the melody to sound as clean as possible.
