Forum Topic: Microphones and/or Pick Ups

So Joe Doubleday has been talking about Mics and Pics on Facebook to me. So I thought I'd start a discussion.

I think they both have there place and both are useful. For me mics come first, pick-ups second. The sound will dramatically change with pickups. It's a different beast all together just like the Mallet Kat is totally different But both good weapons to own (not sure why I used that analogy). I do think though after you have the mic thing down pick-ups are the next step, for the really loud gigs.

Anouar Brahem – Magical oud… and more

Sorry, this is no vibes... but wow! I went to a concert last night. Anouar Brahem, the Tunisian 'Prince Of Oud' and his pals got us into a beautiful trip.

This great oriental 12 string kind of mandolin has in itself a magical sound. Anouar was accompanied by lebanese percussionist Kaled Yassine. But to complete this quartet, he chose two instruments and players from the north: German Klaus Gesing on bass clarinet and Swedish bassist Bjorn Meyer.

Beautiful Friendship by Tony Miceli

Me, My Mouth, My Sticks and My Washing Machine and Dryer!

Here's a decent version of the tune I was going to do a few lessons on next. I think this is a beautiful tune. Really really beautiful to me!! And a very interesting tune to study. I liked this take the best but forgot that the Washer and Dryer were on. The conditions I have to practice under here are really disappointing. But my underwear are clean.
