Hi Everyone,
Check out September's Good Vibes details on my website, www.gloriajazz.com.
I may not be celebrating a wedding, but I've included something old ("Black Orchid" by Cal Tjader), something new ("Lucky To Be Me" from David Friedman's newest, Flight), something borrowed (five tunes borrowed from rock hit lists), and something blue ("Samba D'Blue" with Steve Nelson).
Roy Ayers is on hand to celebrate his September birthday, Terry Gibbs pays homage to Lionel Hampton, both Hamp and Red show up to celebrate vibraphone beginnings, and Tony plays his tender solo of "Tennessee Waltz." What more could you ask for? Lots more.
Also, I'll be posting my latest jazz poem on the website, "The Fantastic Nicknames of Jazz," that will appear in the September issue of Jersey Jazz (the magazine is a perk of membership, so join!) After 36 issues, it's my last submission as Poetry Editor as Ive decided to retire from that position. It's been great fun and a learning experience for all.
Anthony Smith wrote an endearing review of my book, "Jazz Lines, Free verse in the Key of Jazz," that is now posted on All About Jazz. Here's the link. Check it out!

Enjoy these last few weeks of summer!
