It's great to see that so many people have weighed in on the legacy of Bobby Hutcherson, and expressed how important his music has been to them personally. I was lucky enough to speak (briefly) with Bobby on the phone, a few months back, when I was attempting to arrange an interview with him for the soon-to-be-released book, "Masters of the Vibes: Conversations with the Great, Living Jazz Vibraphonists." Unfortunately, I wasn't able to interview Bobby, as his health was not stellar in recent times. Instead, I wrote an homage to him, from my personal perspective.
Hey guys,
Here is a review of Behn's great new record, with Nate Radley, Ugonna Okegwo, Jason Tiemann and Bruce Harris...
Check it out, but more importantly, CHECK OUT THE RECORD!

I'm trying something new and hope that it's of interest to vibe players and musicians in general. I'm inviting creative, improvising musicians to my home studio here in Berlin and sending these spontaneous encounters as a live stream through Stege.it. Here's the link for the first one today in the States and tonight in Europe.
Been meaning to post again for a long time now. Chord Melody on Miles's solo, then Milt's solo. Enjoy! Comments and critiques welcome.

So many great versions of this song. One of my favorite versions is by the late jazz harmonica player Toots Thielemans and pianist Kenny Werner. It was very sad hearing of Toots' passing last week. There was no one like him and it's such a huge loss. Toots and Kenny recorded this song on their duo recording. I also saw a video last week of Toots and Kenny playing this song in a concert. Toots playing the melody so beautifully on harmonica and Kenny backing him up on piano and synth with sensitivity and lots of harmonic color and variation.
