More On the Quarter Tone Vibraphone

I found another video from this middle east vibe player. He interests me a lot, because it looks like he's hustling like the rest of us, trying to get gigs. And here he is, who knows where, but far from Philly playing 'New York, New York' on the vibes. And then with 8 mallets.

I wonder why he feels the need to hold the eight mallets, I keep looking for an advantage but don't see it. And I wonder if he's on the site!

Playing the Blues in Somers Point, New Jersey

Tim Lekan is a mover and shaker down in Somers Point, New Jersey. And he's a great bass player! They put on an incredible jazz festival each year!

In this series Tim does something he calls 'The Workshop'. Here he gets together with musicians and we do what ever: Talk to the audience, play tunes, anything that happens.

Also on drums is Bob Schomo. Although you don't have to be a rocket scientist to play drums, Schomo is just about one! He has a Masters or a PHD in physics. He's a super heavy cat and a great drummer!

This is Funny!

a teenage boy in 1994. My other brother is currently in jail awaiting

How High The Moon by the tap dancer Fabien Ruiz

Have you ever played for a tap dancer ? This happened to me only once, in 1991, when I was still playing drums. At the moment, I'm sorting out a video of that particular club-date that the piano-player, Patrice Galas, sent me. The dancer's name is Fabien Ruiz. He was 27 or 28 years old then, so he's about 50 now (I was 50 then). I remember really enjoying that completely unrehearsed gig, which was two nights in the same club, a real jazz-club where people watched and listened. Fabien took his art seriously, and still does.
