i think your feel and your time are very good. i have the feeling though that you should clear up the voicings that you use and then add some lines in your comp. LEt me know if that helps you.

You were right about the melody in the parker blues. thanks!'

Thanks for the help. It's always helpful to have a good musician listening and telling the things/truth. This was a first try, without any previous work, just to see what I was able to do on the spot. Now I have experimented freely some possibilities, I'm going to work on what you say, for sure. That's exciting to feel the work I do since february is starting to pay back !
What's the name of the head you play on your great blues final ? I know the tune but not the name, I'm curious. Great head BTW.
(PS : my nickname is baBu, badu sounds strange for me... but no heat at all, that's just nickname :o))

Dim, I dig your comps, always good ideas !
Now, about How Insensitive (Insensatez in Portuguese), the beginning of the head's harmony is based upon what we could call the "Jobim's cadenza" (for the first 3 chords): Dm (bass D), C7/13/b9 (bass Db), F7 (bass C), G (bass B), Bb6 (bass Bb), Eb7M (bass Eb), Em7b5 (bass E), A7 (bass Db), Dm (bass D). Without that cadenza, the tune loose his own colour (sure if you play it during some years you'll find out other harmonization while keeping the brazilian style up).
And at the end you add some kind of tumbao, which is spanish stuff, not brazilian. (sure, there's not an international law prohibiting to do that, but I often listen to musicians who doesn't make well the difference between spanish south-american music and brazilian (portuguese)music, I think it can be helpful to know that, if not).
I've recorded quickly a comp on guitar as an exemple of harmonisation doing the right basses.
Hope that helps...

first of all thanks for this recording and thank you for spend some time to show me.

second, thank you very much for this information. i didn't know this type of cadenza. so, from now on when i play this cadenza i will remember you. man, i loved the way you played that tune. it's full of feelings. i think mine is just playing the right notes. i am sure i am going to0 learn from you in this sight. THANKSSSSS.

in this version i tried to play as simple as possible.

would like to make more duos like that? maby on brazilian tunes, and post them on the sight?

i will try to play the how insensitive in a more brazilian style

Right on the money, man ! And you understood well the syncopation on Dm, Dm7M Dm7 Dm6 near the end, which is a real brazilian way of playing samba.
Let's see if another oportunities will occur in the future ?

Thanks to listen to our stuff. I think Dim did a very good job on my comping which was only to show the right harmony and a brazilian straight approach to the tune. Glad you liked ! :o)

That's not what you think Drew, Tony was just doing another 'rhythmic mouth noise' to keep the groove on!! ;-)
