Roger's recent post playing with iReal Pro inspired me to show what I've been working on with iReal as well. This is one of those Q&D "Just hit play and whatever happens happens" recordings. Thanks Roger :)
Tony told me about iReal last August, and I like to use it to work on tunes before trying them with the band. So here are melody lines, no improvisation, for two classics: Armando's Rhumba, and I Remember Clifford.
I'm attempting to chart this out, other than the turn around the hits keep throwing me for a loop. Any help?

I think these frames might really change the way our instruments look. Especially for busy players in cities! I played these frames and they are incredible. Malletech is planning on making some of these frames.

I've given voicings for Giant Steps. Your just is to study the harmony, write in the chords with their upper partials and then memorize the voicings. Then add rhythm and comp with a play along track to get the voicings inside of you.

A little “Basin St. Blues” from a warmup session today at Berklee before classes. I love these classic old gems. Some great versions from Louis Armstrong, Oscar Peterson and Keith Jarrett.
Thadeus Tukes is the vibe player.
I dig him. If you listen you can see he knows how to play through changes pretty good!
I see vibe players who are trying to get the lionel thing and many times I don't think they play that well or don't…

A kind of independence exercise in 9 that I turned into a mini tune/interlude for my CD "Cubist." Also features African balafon and Indian tabla, with Randy Roos on guitars.
