Hey Vibes Workshop,
I was in Berlin for a few days, and had the opportuny to meet again the "Friedman Clan", Charly and Simon.
We played some tunes at the university, duets with marimba and vibes. Unfortunately, we only recorded this one.
Hope you enjoy it ! Please comment!

Practicing connecting the dots between chords of a tune.
I have troubles figuring out how to play small intervals in the mid range.
For example:
Starting on C3 play ascending major thirds chromatically with the left hand.
There are three places which require a circus contortionist.
D-F#
A#-C#
B-D#
What is the suggested way to deal with this contortionists scenario?
How would you do it?

My mentor said when you practice one thing you're practicing everything. That's so true. When we look at things we're studying we can probably see many things we're getting out that one thing.
In this exercise here's a way to study Lines, Dampening, Pedaling and Chords.
I just enjoyed the lesson of Mike Pinto. I'm a fan of his CD "Prologue"... I totally dig the sound of vibes with sax and voice. So now I have a band in this formation.
This is a composition of mine called "strange country". It's just a simple recording of a rehearsal. I think the vibes are a bit too quiet and I'm not satisfied with my solo... it's hard, because it goes from 6/8 to 5/8 to 4/4 and mine is the only chordal instrument.
But enjoy...

Today was my last day in Philly, I finally got to sleep a little bit which was nice. I checked out of the hotel and went down to the University of the Arts where I was going to sit in on one of Tony's classes an hour later. I had planned to get here early in hopes of finding breakfast and right around the corner there was a place called Mama Angelina's (i think) and I got to have some awesome pizza for breakfast.
Jimmy White spent the week as an intern for vibesworkshop.com. Wednesday he came to Philly from Ohio to spend the day with me and see what goes on at VW as well as try to do some lessons. Here is Jimmie's lesson on Stick Dropping.
