Ireland Workshop Part 2

Part 2 of the Ireland workshop. I have a fantastic group of adult musician. I'm amazed at the level of musicianship here. I think they must have a great music program in the schools here, because of the musicianship. I also have a couple of classical pianists with phenomenal ears! It's great to work with just a bunch of vibe players, and then switch over to a general group of musicians. Focusing on the vibes.

The other thing is the vibesworkshop was all guys. So we got a little rough and tough with the words, but a coed workshop I have to be on my toes and be respectful!

It Might As Well Be Spring by Ed Saindon

On my way to work this morning this tune came up on my iPod. I hadn't heard it in a while and it blew me away again just like the first time -- I had to listen to it again (and again, 5 times total I think :-)). This was from a thing Tony got started a few years ago where he, Ed and Piper would do a "quick and dirty" recording of the same tune. I hope Ed doesn't mind me reposting it.

I Think This is MORE Portable Than the M55

I set this instrument up today and it hit me. It's a Premiere. Here's a photo of the instrument: http://www.vibesworkshop.com/node/4295/

This is easier to set up than the M55. It sounds great and is a little smaller. That means it will fit in a smaller car. I bet it would even fit in a cooper. I just realized that I would love to have this instrument. And the cases are beautiful. I'm looking into them and will pass the news on!

Forum Topic: Jazz Theory Books

Hey guys! I came here about 5 months ago for some help with finding an internship and after how amazing that was I'm back for some help in creating a class for myself. I'm looking to learn Jazz Theory from a few books. I've worked things out with the theory teacher at my school so I can get credit, I just need to find a few books to use because its going to be self-guided. I've looked around Amazon.com and its simply overwhelming (I do recall seeing a book that Tony left a review for but I can't remember the title to go back to it).

Ireland Workshop Winds Up

What's great about a workshop, I'm realizing is the concentration of it all. Everybody is out of their environment and together for one reason and that's to talk about the vibes. That was the last four days. Everybody made progress in those four days. They took shifts in the school at night practicing on the 2 Premieres and the Musser (Nico, get VPB to Ireland). We all worked hard, everyone was so cool and supportive.
