Good Bye - Vibes Sax Duo - Tarik
i had a very challenging gig yesterday with a great sax player.i was very scared about this gig since i had to learn 12 originals (in 2 weeks with only 3 rehearsels) written by rüdiger scheipner who plays bass clarinet on this tune.it´s really hard to be responsible for all the comping parts and be the only harmony instrument. all in all the evening went very well and i learned a lot from it. thankfully the sax player was very pleased with my performance and we want to record some of the tunes in the next weeks and keep on playing in that formation.

This month of February has been very rich with experiences! First our winter workshop took place in Germany. All first archives bellow. Then we finished our great lesson series with How Deep Is The Ocean and switched to our new Tune Of The Month: Satin Doll! Then a few of us participated in our very first online skype lesson with Tony. All testimonies in the discussion section… and more! Enjoy!

ship song part 3
Part 3 we are.
The puzzling is over. I think I've got all my pieces now. I also listened to the original and noted the structure it has. + I drew a chart of the energy build up the song has to me. (see pdf, lowest chart.).
Now I have to work on it.
-starting with the Metronome
-pedalling and dampening
-trying to improve my chords and soloing
- keeping rhytm
- balancing the build up
.....
Now it's time to build the song.
I did make a 1th rough one today as a starter. It is really bad in all : wrong notes, bad pedal and dampening, tempo sucks, rhytm is wrong.

Groovy Girl Gigging
Oh what a night!
Tonight I did something I never thought I would do: I drove 45 minutes to a jazz club to sit in with pro musicians I barely know who've been playing longer than I've been alive. Wow...I will admit I almost chickened out, but I'm glad didn't!

Skype lesson assigment complete (how deep in 12 keys) by dimitris angelakis
Hey,
I just completed my assigment which was to play how deep is the ocean (melody and chords) in 12 keys. I posted only six of them in a single track. I combine the melody and the chords in a way as I was about to play in a solo vibes. Sometimes I just hit the bass note with the left hand and it sound ok!
Tony let me know what you think!
thanks
