This etude is built on the changes to Blue Bossa. Notice the treatment of the Dm7b5 measures. The ideas over them resemble Fm7 lines, so the tip in this etude is to think a minor third away for half diminished chords; it helps! Enjoy the etude!

Guys, I just put up some clips on SoundCloud. The clips are from a recent gig with bassist Mark Carlsen. We do a lot of playing together at various Asian restaurants which is great. It keeps us playing. We always have fun playing and the hang is great. Family, friends and students usually come out for the night. We play a few sets and then sit down for some very good food. Anyways, here is a clip of Easy Living. Gustavo taped this and the recorder was a little close to the table but I think you can make out what we're playing.

The version with Idina Menzel singing is with piano, orchestral and vocals (Idina Menzel). Instead of piano, I would have used vibraphone ;-).

I just listened to Gilbrano play one of the advanced lessons here. I remember when he was just getting into the instrument and now he has a lot of control over the instrument.
