Little Giant Steps
Been working on this tune for a few weeks and find it so difficult to improvise over but got a little bit of a solo going over pentatonic scales for the first three choruses and then I try and be more free on last chorus. Lots to do on this. Here is my effort so far

Blue Serge by Ted Wolff
This beautiful ballad by Mercer Ellington is, I believe, not well known. Bill Evans and Eddie Gomez recorded it on the album Intuition, which is where I discovered it. I love the simplicity of the melody supported by those rich chords. Mmmm Mmmm good!
A lead sheet is included.

"26-2" Anthony Smith Quartet Live at Subculture (w/Kevin Hays)
Finally got some videos edited from a show I did a while back, here in NYC with Kevin Hays (piano), Michael Blanco (bass), and Mark Ferber (drums)
This is a re-imagining of Coltrane's "26-2"...
Hope you all dig it!
It's You Or No One -Anthony Smith
You guys inspired me to work on "It's You Or
No One"...
I haven't shed it yet, but here's my first pass
playing along with Aebersold!
I think those guys might speed up a little bit during
this take! :-D
(Tony, I'm still trying to flatten that 2 mallet out! Getting
better, but still a work in progress)

TOTM - All The Things You Are - Final Analysis Pt. 1 by Behn Gillece
Why there aren't a lot of big names that play the vibraphone in latin jazz (by dimitrios angelakis).
I am doing a presentation about the vibraphone in latin jazz music as part of my thesis and I realized after talking to Tony today that there aren't so many vibes player in this music as there are in piano. I know Tito, Cal, Samuels and Christos but how come no really big names like Eddie Palmieri or Chucho Valdes.
What do you guys think about that?
I would appreciate all your comments because not often some is speaking about those stuff and it's part of my presentation.
Thank you all for your time!
Dimitris
