Man, we saw 4 people online! John Piper Told me there was a lot of you online. Damn, what happened? I thought wow, no one has questions. Oh man. Piper said there were lots of questions. I ended early because it seemed like no one was there. Something went wrong.
Before playing with Gary Burton, Richard Galliano played with french vibists.
I found an old vidéo on youtube with Philippe Macé on Vibes.
The trio is :
R.Galliano on accordion, JC Capon on Cello, And P.Macé on Vibes.
Philippe used to be part of the ensemble Intercontemporain created by P.Boulez.He quited this ensemble to become a fulltime jazzman.
I think David Friedman knows him, maybe he'll say a word.
I like the sound of the trio and the vibes solo at the end.
I'd say the video is from early 80s.
Ear Training
Just thought I'd pass this along!
I played jazz at a funeral today. And I was late because someone died on the way to the gig. Right on the street, and I got stuck behind the ambulance that was in the middle of the road. I couldn't back up because of the line of cars behind me.
There was this dead guy and then the dead guy at the funeral. This was weird. What pissed me off was that the ambulance blocked the street even after everyone knew that the guy was dead. They all sat there looking at him and talking... and of course looking at the growing line of cars.

Add on to this list please!
I have a series on modes inside the subscription part of the site. One of the subscribers asked for names of tunes in different modes. So I thought I'd ask all you guys.
So Phrygian, name some tunes that are Phrygian. You can also name sections of tunes that are Phrygian.
There are a few of you using the annotations. Subscribers will see it on each page. They can keep notes and then go there account page and see an 'annotations' tab. There they can read there annotations and then click to go back to the article.
Annotations are really helpful!
Joe takes a strange progression and resolved it because of the melody!
How about as an exercise, one of the subscribers transcribe the progression!
