I dug this. Good players.
Hey we're screwing around with the shout box. It's been really slowing down the site. so if you don't see it there, that's what's up!
I saw Zakir and Ustad Allah Rakha live and it was so frickin amazing.
Check how they sing the rhythms and then play them back on the tablas.
It's cool cause it's father and son playing! And they're both such monsters.
Susan Pascal is a subscriber on the site. I don't know much about her so I was crusing Youtube looking for stuff. I found this video of her. She takes a great solo over a Latin tune.
(Not Randy Sutin) Username is just Randy.
Who?
Do women play this instrument with more natural emotion then men?
This girl seems pretty young and pretty expressive in the piece. Seems like an intermediate student, but I saw something in the piece and then thought about other female players and wondered if it's easier for them to be expressive on an instrument that's naturally not that expressive.
Tell me I'm nuts, but I'm just thinking out loud. I always thought women should run the world. They didn't grow playing war, they'd probably find some other solutions to things that guys would never think of.
Nothing to say about this.
Joe Doubleday posted this on his FB account. I thought I'd post it here. Thanks Joe. Warren Wolf is a pretty BAD vibe player. Great 2 mallet chops, I think.
Here is the sheet music to the transcription I performed in the video here:

This is a superb solo by Joe Locke from his Sticks and Strings album available through:
