In this series watch, listen and learn. Really try to imitate David and how he is playing! - Tony Miceli
This clip is from Ralph Gleason's PBS show Jazz Casual from 1962. I always thought of this piece as the "odd man out" in the repertoire of the Modern Jazz Quartet only because you don't think of them as playing Ornette Coleman's music. But they recorded this and here it is live over the end credits of the program.
I just dicovered this great presentation, enjoy !!!
This is the pilot episode from the late fifties detective series Johnny Staccato, played by John Cassavetes. He's a former jazz pianist turned detective. At Waldo's, the bar he likes to frequent and sit in, there's another house band featuring a vibes player in the front line - played here by Red Norvo.
This is from the 1958 series Peter Gunn, where the house band in the series features Lola Albright on vocals and Victor Feldman on vibes. Note the interplay between Victor and Lola on this excellent "cool" rendition of "How High The Moon."
