Hi Gang,
Since we all seem to know the birthdays of our esteemed pros (both living and deceased) and we take a moment to recognize them, we, at the same time, do not have in our profiles the birthdates of our ever growing membership. Thought I would kick that off today with this announcement:
I am 75 years of age as of yesterday, Feb 11, and am proud to be able to announce that and very happy that I am physically here to experience it.
If you want to register early (last year we turned people away) email Harvey price at hprice@UDel.Edu. He'll take a small deposit and hold your place.
We're starting to get ready for the Delaware workshop again. This will be from July 31st until August 5th.
Between the instruments we get and ones people bring we will have an instrument for everyone, also a practice room. I think you'll also each have your own piano in the room.
I love brushes!
Here's another recording from my jam with Tony, and Mark today. This is "The Days of Wine and Roses", which I was working on for the TOTM. I did it all from memory, which is a big deal for me. I got lost a little, then got back in by listening to the bass and piano. I also comp during the bass solo, which means I can't rely on listening to the bass to keep track. That was tough for me.
But, man that was FUN, playing with other folks! I usually just do solo arrangements in my basement.
Enjoy,
Barry

I had a very special day today. Tony, and bass player Mark Przybylowski came over my house to hang and jam. At the end, we got a bit silly with a jam based on my "Barry Ktude #1".
See what other tunes you can hear.
BTW, I figured out how to mic the piano. The main trick is to use stereo mics. I used the AMT 404s that I normally use for my vibes and used a single AKG C1000S for the vibes. The bass was picked up by all of the mics.

Hi Everyone,
Good Vibes airs Sunday night Feb 6, 8-10pm eastern time. Yes, I know it is Super Bowl night! If you're watching the Super Bowl, the rebroadcast is Wednesday afternoon at 4-6. OR -- watch the Super Bowl with a Good Vibes radio soundtrack!
Randy Sutin has the first cut with "Lift Every Voice," in honor of black history month.
Then we travel to some warm places to get away from the snow-bound northeast: Tahiti, Barbados,
Phoenix, St. Thomas. And if you can't get away, walk on the sunny side of the street.
Hope you can listen in.

Hey all,
I'm posting this tune for our new member Luc Lainé. Luc is among Patrice Guillon's friends. He lives near Bordeaux.
Here is a tune from a home made album he did in 2005 with accordion player Pascal Lamigne. The title "La Marine" is an adaptation of same tune from French legendary poet/guitarist/singer Georges Brassens.
Man I grew up with Brassens! But maybe, as non French will you get sent into some kind of "Ratatouille" mood?
Anyway, enjoy! And...
Welcome on board Luc!

Okay, after Tony's joke on the practice tape post, I decided this subject probably needed its own thread.
So here is my story about the motor:
Here's another piece from that same gig. This is one of Ernie's original tunes dedicated to Errol Garner.
