Thank you Mike Balter for making this years workshop a big success!!!
I thought you guys might like to see this. I've been using these mallets for about 3 or 4 months and they are great! Much lighter than the old ones and I'm able to play 4 mallets way easier. They last a really long time as well. Stefon also shows some interesting techniques.
Here's a lesson I recorded for the trumpet site and thought some of you might be interested in it. Keep in mind that all of the examples I play will sound a step lower than what they are (because trumpet is a Bb instrument). So if I talk about G7(#9#5), it's really F7(#9#5).
Not a pretty sound!
Check out the guys warming up in Delaware! We have a great group from all over the world!
Hello fellow vibes players. I've been posting a lot of detailed lessons with PDFs the last few weeks, but something I've also been intending to do is just jump on once in a while and share a little idea of something that I find helpful, so here goes.
I've recently discovered an excellent new software product for music notation that (I think) competes favorably with the expensive packages like Sibelius and Finale. It's called Muse Score and it is distributed as a free download. You can find it here: Muse Score.
The interface is logical and seems to be well thought out. You can save your files in a variety of formats including .pdf and .xml. As far as I can tell this product will work for anything you want to create, from a simple lead sheet to a full orchestral score.
Well, apparently I led a good life because the only explanation for the performance I've just seen is that I've died and gone to heaven :-). I'm just back from seeing Ed Saindon and Joe Locke perform in duo, and I'm blown away. Going with two vibraphones instead of vibes and marimba, they both got to play to their full and considerable expressiveness.
It was great to finally meet Joe in real life, and to catch up with Ed and his wife Pam. I'm really glad I could make it to the performance.

I've fallen in love with the tune Recordame by Joe Henderson. I can play the chords and melody for the tune nicely and can improv it acceptably too. I've transcribed the melody for the intro section off the CD and I've gottem most of the chords but there are a few that escape me.
Can anyone give me the chords for the intro section of this tune? I'd surely appreciate it.
