Hey guys, here's a version of Jobim's great tune Triste.
Its now official, Limerick is to host its first jazz festival and the headline act is the Joe Locke Geoffrey Keezer Group. Its going to be great and I am delighted to have secured Joe and Geoffrey and the group for it. All the info is here www.limerickjazzfestival.com. Its a lot to take on but we are delighted with the progress so far. Limerick Jazz Society is also 30 yrs old this year and is one of the motivating factors in organizing this festival.
A few errors I know. Sometimes I play it without fault. But if I do, they are not returning errors. Each time another note. I think it's the stress of ending it without errors that makes me make them.
I was really satisfied with this one (even with the errors) for the main reason that I was relaxed while playing.
P.S. 2 posts today, to end before I go on holiday. I didn't thought I could finish both, at a moment I thought I couldn't finish neither, but yesterday I regained confidence to post both of them.
(The other one is friedman etude n°6)
Guys, here's another clip from the Berklee Percussion Festival concert. This clip is an original by Matt Marvuglio titled Why Cry. A very nice composition. We played this on the recording that Matt, Barry Smith and I did awhile ago. It's actually the title of the CD. If you want a lead sheet, just let me know. Ed
Here's a short clip of Pat Metheny and Chick Corea talking about their experiences playing with Burton.
Bent Clausen on vibes.
He's the reason of my renewed love for vibes. He's responsible for the fact that I got rid of my xylophone and bought a vibraphone.

Hi guys, here's a clip from a concert that we played on 6/20 at Berklee. The concert was part of the weeklong Percussion Festival that featured classes, ensembles, clinics and concerts. Gustavo Agatiello and I opened the week with a duo vibe performance on Monday at 10:30 AM.
About the band in this clip:
Matt Marvuglio is on flute. Matt is the Dean of the Performance Division at the college. We've been playing together for many years. He's a wonderful musician and flautist. We've been on many trips together for clinic/concerts and have had fun times hanging and playing.
yea, in SC, where I came from... it is 113
also I have a question for you, if you have a second to spare
wow, that's crazy. sure, fire away.
10:00am
so I was listening to the version of ATTYA you posted on vibesworkshop
the one that has a lot of "out" colors to it
the more I listen to it, the more I see it's brilliance
yes, the one that sounds like I'm playing the wrong changes. Ha!Ha!
it is a work of art, Ed
it really is
thanks
and what really drives everything home, I feel like, is the feel
it feels so good
and that is where my question lies
feel
hey,
although i already posted most of the songs somewhere on the site, i thought to share some excerpts of my first malletkat only gig to show you the advantages of the instrument by using different sounds on the fly. first i was a bit affraid of playing a gig without my loved musser but i must say it all went well. best would be to have them both and setup like i have at home but then i would need a roadie :)
