Music Education Europe vs. USA -> Read the Branford post to get the start point

I have been away for a few days, came back to the workshop and watched the Branford Marsalis video and it still moves me. I read through all the posts and had the feeling that it is time to open up a new thread as too many topics are tumbling through oneanother within the original post...
Before covering the actual topic of my post, I'd like to say, that I am 90% behind Marsalis! Okay, he is being very provocative here, but hey I think he has a point.

Radio Show for All Vibes

Hey Everybody,

Recently we had the pleasure of Gloria Krolak amongst our membership. She has an fm radio show online that features all vibes and marimba players. I think it is mostly vibes. Anyway, she gave us some info in a post about her show, which happened to be tonight (Sunday) and Wednesday. I listened in and sure enough her show is a treat.

Pinzin Kinzin by Holger Denckmann

Hello everyone! Here is something for the odd meter addicts! From my point of view the "Gently Disturbed" album by Avishai Cohen is one of the best JazzTrio albums from the past decade! I hope you liked what we made of it by adding the vibes. If you have the feeling that I am always playing the same - fast forward to 3:45 where I am soloing over those crazy meter changes...Have fun with the 9/16, 9/16, 9/16, 5/16 feel within a 4/4 meter!
I attached the score . for the "better" understanding : )

Ireland vibes workshop from an Icelander´s viewpoint...

I had a truly great time at the Ireland workshop - Tony is a master vibraphonist and definitely a missionary preaching the gospel of jazz! I certainly learned a lot from him as well as the other players at the workshop. No man is an island and it is vital to be able to connect with other players in order to grow and mature as a musician. It was quite a blast meeting other mallet players from all across Europe!

Vibe Hang Live From Ireland

Time

7:30 Limerick Time, 8:30 in France, 2:30 in Philly and 11:30 on the west coast!

Come check out the vibe hang Wednesday night. It will be the culmination of the 4 day workshop in Limerick. So hopefully all the cats will stick around and play. We'll have a rhythm section there as well as (I hope) a special guest. A local vibe player who plays great. He's also lending us his vibes for the week!

Six Mallet Marimba solo

Hello Everyone,

This is a six mallet marimba solo. This video is from a tour about 2.5 months ago. This show was at 11am, and I did not feel the greatest, staying up all night before, typical tour! We were abit late getting to the place so we only had 25minutes to unpack. No time for warmup of any sort.

I find tours very interesting. You have to play your best no matter how you feel warm or cold. I think it's a very good experience touring it really forces you to be on your A game.
