Our first Pop Up Class! We studied Green Dolphin Street!!!!
I pick a time announce it, which ever subscribers can make it, we study something and then we perform! That is is Pop Up Class!
Here is our performance!
Pretty self-explanatory. Tony thought there weren't enough gongs on my last post.
Well... gong solo this time.
Need I say more?
My apologies to Juan Tizol. It was a great tune before this happened.
Here's a video I made with my buddy down in Chiapas, Mexico. When you enter his town there is a huge (I mean huge) sculpture of a marimba. The cool thing is I think it's made out of metal. Touche! We win!
On Marimba is Alexander Cruz a great Marimba and Vibes player!
Hanging, talking, playing!
No matter what your stance is on guns, I think this is pretty cool!
What do you Europeans think? Very American right?
Here's the website: https://www.12gaugemicrophones.com/
As some of you know, for the past few months I've been studying a lot of Bud Powell on piano, and by the transitive property, also vibraphone. I've done a number of transcriptions and analyses, and I've learned almost every tune he ever wrote. So, for some closure before I go to Oscar Peterson, I'll be posting three solo vibraphone versions of his tunes.
Just got off the phone with a few vibesworkshop members and we had a great time studying Green Dolphin Street!
Our goals are to make a solo version in C and then Eb and then we will do a facebook concert where we each play a version of Green Dolphin Street.
