Maintenance

Hi all,

First post here, though I've been aware of the site for a while. I'm looking for some advice on what I might use to (safely) clean the bars on an old Jenco I recently acquired as my secondary, at-home practice rig. It's in good shape overall, other than the fact that it's got who-knows-how-many years of grime built up on the bars, which then rubs off onto my mallets.

My funds are limited. I have the K&K pickups. It is an older set so some pickups are failing and need replacement. Official K&K pickups are about $22 each plus shipping. Does anyone know of a source where I can purchase complete, ready made but less expensive, single piezo pickups to use with K&K system for vibraphone? THANKS!

Hi everyone. I've had a Malletech Omega for about 4-5 years at this point and have used it extensively for gigs and practice. This past year or so, I've noticed a frame creak, on and off, pretty much whenever I press down the pedal. I've tried small remedies like lubricant, tightening all the Allen wrench screws, etc, but nothing has truly solved it. I have some recording coming up, and it's gotten bad enough that I'm not sure I could use the instrument, so I'm very much trying to get this fixed!

Finally doing some maintenance on my Jenco 3-octave vibraphone, for which I received some helpful advice here in the past.  What I've done so far:

- Replaced both cords, all the post insulators and the dampening felt with brand new ones from Century Mallet

- Leveled a few posts that were sticking up too high (long story) 

- Dampened any buzzing metal on the frame 

Overall it is sounding wonderful in comparison to where it started, but two issues remain and I'm not sure what can be done about them if anything:

I'm doing a recording session and have misplaced the power supply for the vibrato motor on the Malletech Omega Vibe. I can't recall what voltage it is. If it's something common like 12V then I may be in luck but I definitely don't want to fry it with too much voltage. Thanks!

I'm looking for rubber "licorice" post isolators for a Musser ProVibe. On the Steve Weiss website I found "Musser Marimba Post Isolators", with a list of instruments that these isolators fit. The M55 ProVibe is not listed, but I suspect that they will fit.

Does anyone know a source for these rubber post isolators for the Musser vibe?

I thought it may be helpful to share my experience with anodizing/re-anodizing Muster vibe bars.  This is a small sample based on unscientific experience of two sets of bars, and a total of three trips to two different anodizers.  I’d sure think long and hard about taking this on myself again.  Take my advice comments at your own risk!  Also not all bars are anodized! Some are painted and/or have a clear coat on them.
