I posted about transcribing some MJQ and hearing mistakes in the recording and feeling a little funny about it. This is one of my favorite groups, but I was complaining a little bit!
My punishment was that the video - 'Modern Jazz Quartet, Django. True Jazz Inovators in Their Best Filmed Performances' came today. I'm in the middle of it now, all black and white so far. Between that and the looks of them this must be early on. They sound SO good. Milt sounds beautiful! Thanks for putting me in my place Almighty Amazon.com!
My first wife was an actress who did a lot of mime. This brought back some trauma. (Don't tell her I said that)
This is pretty cool. Cop that groove!!! :-)
I have attached the variation I promised. Same rhythm in both hands but now 6ths in the right hand. I'm sure Norbert will clog it right away (Go Norbert!)
So tell me how you found the vibraphone?
Here's my abridged version.
I played classical guitar growing up and was very serious about it. I also played drums and then picked up piano as a teen.
I almost went to school for piano, but some weird stuff happened with piano lessons and I quit on a dime as they say.
Jeez, probably not the kind of drummer we want on a jazz gig? Did I post this already?
Here's the website. No Content is added yet, I just bought the domain, made the layout, set up the buttons so far.

Tell me what you think,
Joe
This is a live recording from my junior recital at the University of Lethbridge. The technique that i've based my playing from is from several youtube masters playing riq. I would use a video slow downer to study there technique and then try to cop it :)
hope you like,
Joe
Killer band. I want to gig with 4 percussionists!
