the thing about You Stepped Out Of A Dream is we have a duet with me and Dave and tracks for some play along. It is a Tune guys play a lot but it's not on the top 20! But Maybe top 50 or 75.

I wanted to get in on TOTM before the end of My Romance. Tony, this one's for you! Back when I used to take lessons with Tony, he'd always make me play solo, and I always complained about it! I used to say, "When am I ever going to play a solo gig, and if I did, it would probably be in a restaurant where no one would be paying attention anyway!" Then he would respond, "Well, if you can play solo, you can play duo, trio, etc." Good point! Anyway, here's My Romance a la "Miceli" solo style.

After a long process of disassembly, sanding (only to find out that the wood underneath was poplar ...), staining (twice because of poplar's tendency for color discrepancies), finishing, painting, felting, and re-assembling; she's finally finished. Eventually going to put it on ebay to get a more transportable instrument, but it's nice to have a great sounding vibe!
I'm thinking of doing the next vibe hang October 10th. Who's in?
Any European guys??
I think if you have a laptop and a video cam, it will work pretty good.

Bill Evans passed away 30 years ago today, on September 15, 1980. I've been listening to his music, which is not unusual, and I'd like to toss out some ideas I've been thinking about expanding on for a blog on my site.
You often hear about Bill Evan's influence on pianists. No surprise there, but I'm thinking that a majority of 4-mallet vibes players would also have him at the top of the list of musicians that have influenced them the most too. I think there are a number of factors at work here. One is timing.
Try this lesson out guys. It's a plug and play altered lick with 4 mallets. Let's see who can make sense out of this.

Olivier, who sold me his vibes has a friend who is also on the site: JYP. "Jean-Yves" lives in Cambodia. He doesn't play mallet but works for an orphanage there, where kids play original mallet instruments.
Here is a short video he gave me to post, "fly on the wall"! FYI, the instrument on the front is a 'Roneat'. The one on the back is a 'Kong Vong'.
Randy? Dana? Anybody knows about those instruments?
