Good Vibes Radio May '14 update FOUR YEARS

Time

Hi Everyone,
It's four years since I proposed to our program manager this strange show featuring the vibraphone. She didn't think it would last long, maybe six months. But here we are starting the fifth year. This month features favorites from the last year, which is how I celebrate the anniversaries. 20 tunes selected from 240!
Warren, Christos, Onaje, Behn, Dave Shapiro, Walt Dickerson, Bobby, Hendrik, Gary, Arthur, Randy, Mark Johnson, Mike, Karl, Christian, Lionel, Kym, Joe, Dave Samuels, Steve and Teddy. Thank you one and all! Thanks listeners!

Vibra-what?

Recently I entered a poetry contest asking what one thing I would change in the world. Here's my entry; I think you'll all appreciate it!

I play the vibraphone.

The xylophone?

The vibraphone.

The vibra-what?

The vibraphone.

Not the xylophone?

The vibraphone!

These are the words I tend to say more than the notes I get to play

Each night while standing on a stage making music by ear or chords on a page

On a page glued into that one big book, between Y and W where we look

Danny Boy and the Omega

I was called to play a solo on a record by my friend Wolfgang Loos, who produced two solo records of mine,Air Sculpture' and my new solo CD, 'Weaving through Motion'. I knew the music would be interesting and challenging so I decided to bring the Omega vibraphone to the studio for it's maiden voyage outside of the Jazz Institute and maybe the first time for an Omega vibe in a studio situation. I was a bit nervous. My son Jeremy had just adjusted the dampening mechanism exactly to my taste and I was quite taken with the results. But then the studio was another thing.
