A Great Gig

I did a great gig at PASIC. But besides bragging little bit about it, here's the cool thing.

The audience loved what we did. I think there is a REAL interest in the vibraphone happening. Something that hasn't happened in a long time.

I credit Leigh Stevens for really making a competitive instrument. In my humble opinion it is truly the best.... by far. That has woken up manufacturers and us vibe players have woken up our audiences! (All of us).

We have a big community here at vibesworkshop and we are on a roll!

TOTM - Green Dolphin Street - Articulation Etude No. 2 by Behn Gillece

This one's in Eb, and there's a few different rhythmic challenges in his etude. Also, there's a couple of subtle tune quotes in here! If anyone can guess both of them, I will send them a free download copy of my Mindset album :)

You must make your guesses on this post though!

Miss Magnolia has arrived on the scene...

SO... I finally have my Imperial here and in one piece. It is a somewhat rare model 55C... yes, those are black bars. I think she is likely either a 1941 or 1942 vintage. She needs some work, but she is doing well.

I drove down Magnolia Street to the house where she was, the whole town was lined with magnolia trees, and it turns out that she lived not far from there in a town called Magnolia most of her life, so I have named her Miss Magnolia.

Audio will follow once I get the kinks ironed out of her. There are a few little issues, but she is gonna be just fine.
