Hi All,

I came across this recording of "Beautiful Love" from a gig a couple of years ago, and thought it'd be good to post. In addition to me on vibes, there's Brett Baker on guitar, Mike Caruso on bass and Ed Conley on drums. Hope you enjoy it :-).

OK, are you guys having IE6 problems? what exactly is going on.

IE6 is a terrible browser to start with. It's funny when you design something and it works with all browsers but IE6. Our first advice is to use Firefox.

Next, if you guys have a second, can you post exactly what's happening. I have to go download IE6 and test it as well. We think it's the shout box.

There were some time issues with the bass and drums at the beginning but I guess that's the way it goes.

This is a recording from a gig I did at a place called Bourbon Street Jazz Cafe in Oklahoma City. I play here really frequently. The group is called The Hal Corn Trio and consists of Hal Corn- Drums, Joe Doubleday- Vibes, Mike Boyle- Bass. The drummer is a real veteran on the Oklahoma scene. He is pretty old. 60+ years old.

The bass player did the Drum break thing but I didn't know it so I played some sour notes.

Playing in a trio setting was extremely intimidating to me when I started playing at this place but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Here is a recording of a rehearsal I had today. I don't know if many people enjoy listening to this, but I have fun playing it. Sorry about the talking at the beginning, I was trying to tell the bass player something but he went ahead and started.

I think Joe Locke talked about creating your masterpiece or chipping away at it in one of his lessons.

I think we should always be creating our masterpieces, that is playing something where we're creating a final product of some sort. If you're not doing that, then I don't know how you're going to grow.

Man I listened to some Bud a while back and it got me hooked on the sound of going to the one chord from a half step above. Like Db to C. I love that sound and have been pulling it out all over the place. It's pretty cool. It's sort of like getting to the tri tone sub all the time.

Then I played a little gig with John Ellis (sax) over the weekend. And man he is a line manipulator! Being in that frame of reference and then listening to him was a great experience for me. It gave me so much to think about. It's kind of like being chromatic in a diatonic way. Does that make sense?
