I realized after a week of teaching that if I had to boil all this down to a couple sentences, It would be the following:

Do something
Make it into something
Create a finished product and present it

That seems to be the theme of this week. I realize that that's a difficult thing to do, easier to say than to do. If you're gigging then you're doing that all the time, if you're not gigging, then you need to find other ways to do this. That was a big part of this week.

Hi all,
I am thinking about/planning my December/holiday radio show ("Good Vibes")
and am looking for jazz with vibes appropriate to the Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa season. Any ideas? I've got a few, looking for more. This program will air on December 5th, 2010.

I know this is very early for a program in December. It takes time to gather, research, listen to CDs (several times), and then decide what to play. I am also working on several shows at once (Sept, Oct, Nov too). Since I tape a few weeks early, there is less time than you might think!

Antonio is a timpanist from spain who is working on his vibe playing. To me he has a solid foundation, as I think you'll hear. It was great to work with him!

I think it's good for you guys to check all these players out from around the world, don't you think?

Part 2 of the Ireland workshop. I have a fantastic group of adult musician. I'm amazed at the level of musicianship here. I think they must have a great music program in the schools here, because of the musicianship. I also have a couple of classical pianists with phenomenal ears! It's great to work with just a bunch of vibe players, and then switch over to a general group of musicians. Focusing on the vibes.

The other thing is the vibesworkshop was all guys. So we got a little rough and tough with the words, but a coed workshop I have to be on my toes and be respectful!
