TANGO ETUDE: Oblivion (A. Piazzolla) arranged by Giovanni Perin
Hi guys this month instead of technical or harmonic skill I'd like to share with you an arrangment of the great tune Oblivion.
There's a lot learn (also for me) in term of hands independence and phrasing.
Play the melody louder than the comping!! And try to be expressive cause tango is a really passionate music!... make sure to listen to a couple of original version of the tune in order to get the right mood.
have fun
giovanni

Wave by Antonio Carlos Jobim - Vic Firth videoshoot at Berklee
Guys, here's a clip from a Vic Firth videotaping that took place in the mallet room at Berklee. I'm using an old Pro from the 70s. Looks really beat up but sounds great. My favorite instrument in the school.

Quiet Now, a ballad worth checking out
Quiet Now, by Denny Zeitlin, is one of the most beautiful melodies and structures I can think of...right up there with 'Round Midnight and Body and Soul. Zeitlin, in an interview, said Bill Evans recorded it a dozen or more times! The best endorsement a song can have. Find one on Youtube and listen to how the master interprets it.
