Morning practice time playing the classic song "Desafinado" written by the great Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim.
I'm playing malletkat with some fusion shredders at 55 Bar in Manhattan tonight if anyone is in the area. Group lead by Felix Pastorius.
Namaste.
I think back now as an old man - as many do. I still have the flame burning strong inside of me that is as vibrant as the flame I kindled when I was a young man in search of music and all the important things in life. But it's more controlled with the experiences, memories, caution and courage of an older man. I don't see things that differently now, but I see them with a more "controlled passion" and what I see is very interesting, so I'm sharing.
I'm thinking of all this stuff because the site has become very active. Which is GREAT!
I don't like the musser motor. I don't like disc's inside the bar. But that's not the point I guess.
I've been playing with the Omega wings and using the motor. Mainly on gigs with bass and drums. It really makes me play very differently. Like Milt said, the vibes are like a voice. I think he's talking about the tremolo.
If I play with bass and vibes, or just vibes, then I don't like the motor in any capacity. It interferes with the sound.
Did you know that patent ran out last month? I didn't.

Hi guys!
Here my first post!
I want all you to enjoy!
Thanks,

Do people like us still make CD's? Is there a point to doing that? I'm curious because things have changed so much since I was active in it full time. What is the standard media product for artists like us? Recordings have pretty much become "business cards" and give-aways. I'd love to hear the full scope of what seems cool and purposeful to the upcoming class of musicians and the established ones.
Our discussion of cord for vibes started to branch off in soft vs. hard mallets.
So I thought I'd open a discussion on that :-).
I don't want to say too much about it but I'll start off with this.
I'm not innocent here, btw.
