Song For My Father Etude For Meliza
Write the chords in.
Play the etude.
Can you improvise your own version of this?
Do you know the scales?
Quarter notes are great for practicing improv, because you have to play each beat but you also have a lot of time to think.
Can you put chords in? Do you have the chords memorized?
This is a quick and dirty etude. If there are any glaring mistakes let me know.

Misty For Alex
OK, as you guys know I have a very busy schedule. I'm sure many of you also have crazy schedules.
I banged this out for my student Alex.
It's a chord study. Write in the chord names, memorize the etude and change rhythms, whatever you want. Just study the voicings.

Mallet percussion and disabilities
Hi everyone,
I am about to embark on the dissertation stage of my Ethnomusicology PhD program and my topic will be within the realm of music and disability studies (I know what you're thinking Tony, we just were talking about my other topic a few months ago, but long story short I had to change). I haven't chosen a specific topic yet but I would of course like to do something related to percussion if possible.

What Do I Play When I See This Lesson 4 - Dominant Qualities With Alterations by Behn Gillece
Crystal Silence by Chick Corea
"Crystal Silence" composed by Chick Corea. A classic from Chick and Gary Burton from their great ECM album recorded in 1972. The recording has stood the test of time and still sounds fresh today. I hadn't played this in quite awhile. It was one of the first songs that I learned in lessons with Gary starting in '73.
