Lesson on Symmetrical Diminished Chord Scales
here is a radio recording made by my father in 1978 of a solo performance of Gary Burton in l'Espace CARDIN in Paris.
I've listened to it all my youth on my walkman...I love it ! Sure you will too.
Patty, I'm sure that will sound like a challenge for you...;o)
What are the 'books' under shortcuts?
This is where all the learning should take place. In other words:
You hit the site, log in, check the front page and then check Recent Activity. All these sections are in flux, they'll change all the time. They are NOT the places to go back to and look for things you previously saw. They are places to go and check on what's new.
The books section is broken up into different books. Anything in a book will stay in the book in the same position. Things like lessons, tunes, blogs will usually go into books and stay in the same spot.
The mixolydian scale is the major scale with a flat 7. It's a very distinct sound, you've heard it all over the place.

I frequently put on tracks in itunes and practice comping. I come across sometimes, tracks with no chord player. I always forget what they are. But when I find them I have fun being the chord player and get a lot out of it.
So I thought I'd make a list of cd's with just bass or just bass and drums. I only have one to start, but I bet you guys will come up with a ton.
I'd like to organize all those tracks in itunes and just pull them up and comp.
I also will import them into a program like audacity and change the keys.
What you guys got??? You got tunes?
first, you should tune in wed for larrys class if you can.
next, what about us hanging thursday night? you around??

This is a podcast I did with John and Ed. We each recorded our version of Dolphin Dance and then had a hang and talked about it.
This is a cut from my new quartet's last performance. In a band dedicated to exploring Irish music through jazz, this is kind of a stretch, but it's fun, and I was happy enough with how it went down to post it. Hope you enjoy.

I was sitting, waiting. And then came the wizard, followed by five young cats, who could have all been his sons! I was thrilled.
