I'll Remember April by Tom Phelan

Hi All,

This was from a gig back in April of this year. In addition to me on vibes, there's Doug Sondak on alto, Steve Conahan on bass and Ed Conley on drums. Bit of a train wreck on the ending, unfortunately. I thought the sax player was going for a iii-VI7-ii-V7 vamp ending, but the bass player didn't catch on and it kind of waffled around until we fell into a Imaj7 vamp to end. Oh well, it came out OK otherwise :-).

Constructive criticism appreciated...

For those of us in Europe

Hi all!

A few days ago I received the Vic Firth Gary Burton mallets - 2 pairs for a total of Euro 65,- Including shipping + import sales/purchases tax + handling by the Austrian mail services. Here in Austria, if the price of an item is less then Euro 150,- there is no duty!

Thats a bargain since a single pair costs about Euro 55,- or more(check out thomann and all the others).

So my recommendation is to order by one of the big shops. I ordered at Steveweissmusic which I can recommend, but there are others.

The only con is that it takes some 4 weeks to get the stuff delivered.

Amazing Saz! - Louis Winsberg / J.-Christophe Maillard Duet

This is not vibes, but man, it's amazing music!

Louis Winsberg is a great French guitarist. I met him as he worked with my vibist friend Norbert Lucarain, and I already talked on the site about him and his great contribution to the world music and jazz.

A few years ago, I was at a concert and I saw this incredible Saz duet with his pal Jean-Christophe Maillard... It never had been recorded... until now! And untill my friend Bernard found it!

New Recordings by Joe Doubleday

The Quartet that I have been playing with for a few months now just decided to record a demo to give out to places so we can score some more gigs. We met up at a school in a choir room and mic'd up and ran through with minimal takes. Then the bass player ran it through logic. Pretty quick and dirty.

I decided that instead of posting all the recordings on here, I would just post my myspace page with all my stuff.

the group is:

Joe Doubleday- Vibes
Dr. Cory Gavito- Piano
Mike Boyle- Bass
Hal Corn- Drums
